What is an escape room?

"An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit, or having completed a mission." [Wikipedia]

Many escape rooms, including Escape Hampden-Sydney, are centered around a theme, narrative, or mystery that the players must uncover as part of their experience. As such, participants are required to sign a waiver agreeing not to reveal details of the puzzles or narrative in order to prevent another team from having an unfair advantage or diminishing their experience.

What can you expect to find in the H-SC escape room?

  • Visual/observation puzzles
  • Physical/manipulation puzzles
  • Logic puzzles
  • Word puzzles
  • Riddles
  • And more!

No prior specialized knowledge is required in order to participate.

Speed Runs

Escape Hampden-Sydney is pleased to announce that Speed Run trials will begin starting Nov. 26 for all teams who have previously attempted the room. They will conclude after exam week, so schedule your speed run now! You may do so by completing a booking request form which can be found here (on the Escape H-SC website), in the library, or obtained from either Maryśka Connolly-Brown or Marc Hight.
