New York Times  Site License

Bortz Library offers a site license subscription to the New York Times (NYT) that allows current H-SC students, faculty, and staff access to the New York Times website for free. To create a free account, click on the link below or visit the library's A-Z Database List.

New User Registration

You will need to be on campus in order to register for your NYT account. 

• Visit the NYT site license registration link.
• Find Hampden-Sydney in the drop-down list of participating Colleges.
• Follow the prompts for on-campus vs. off-campus account creation.
• Use your Hampden-Sydney email to create your free account.
• You can now access the New York Times from any location, and on the mobile app, simply by logging in with your new account. 

Previous User Registration

If you already have a New York Times subscription and you would like to switch to the library's site license, you will need to cancel your personal subscription and create a new account. You can cancel your subscription in several ways: 

• Call customer care at 866-273-3612 for assistance in canceling.
• Chat with an agent online on the NYT Account Management page: https://help.nytimes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003499613-Cancel-your-subscription.

Account Renewal

Your New York Times account will need to be renewed each year in order to maintain access. To renew your account, simply follow the registration instructions listed above. Users must be on campus to renew their account.
