Through a grant opportunity offered by the Council of Independent Colleges, in 2015 Hampden-Sydney College joined the Consortium on Digital Resources for Teaching and Research. Each institution in the Consortium selected a collection to store and share through a networked solution - Shared Shelf. Hampden-Sydney College's first digital collection is the Henry and Kaye Spalding Map Collection, a collection of rare maps of early Virginia dating from 1590 to 1860.
